昭和がらくた文庫104話(2019.07.25新聞掲載)～「夜空を焦がすレクイエム」

今となっては、アノ(・・)事が夢だったのか、それとも現(うつつ)であったか。

もう両親に問い質す術もない。

それはぼくがまだ4つの頃のことだ。

あの忌まわしい伊勢湾台風から3年しか経ておらず、きっとまだ町のあちらこちらに爪痕も残っていただろう。

ぼくは両親に手を引かれ、家のアパートから歩いてすぐの、名古屋の内田橋まで、花火大会に出掛けた。

まだ夏の掛かりだったから、恐らく熱田祭の花火ではなかったろうか。

色とりどりの花火が、夜空に大きく舞い上がる。

すると両親は繋いでいたぼくの手を放し、頭を垂れ両の手を合わせた。

ふと周りを見上げると、両親同様に両の手を合わせる大人たちが。

ぼくはてっきり皆、熱田の大神に額づいている、とそう思ったものだ。

しかしそれから幾度となく花火を眺めるうちに、はたと気付いた。

あの日、熱田祭の花火に手を合わせた両親は、伊勢湾台風の犠牲となった、尊い無辜(むこ)の命への、レクイエムだったのでは！と。

花火は夜空を見上げる人々の、その時々の心模様によって異なる。

恋人同士で見上げる花火なら、底抜けに陽気で心ときめくに違いない。

しかし一方、忌まわしい敗戦の翌年や、或いは自然災害の後に打ち上げられた花火。

突然降りかかった災いに、尊い家族が犠牲となった遺族の目には、どんな風に映ったであろう。

あの日両親や、何人もの大人たちが手を合わせた、熱田祭の花火のように、花火の大輪は人々を悼む想いを乗せ、夜空を焦がしたのだ。

ヒュルヒュルヒュル～と夜空に舞い上がる花火は、幽冥界に御(お)座(わ)す、累代のご先祖様への狼煙だ。

「まがりなりにも私たちは、今年も平和な世を、また一年積み重ねることが出来ました」と。

  1. 岐阜が誇る夏の風物詩の1つ長良川花火大会
    ご時世で、取り止めに！
    子供達も淋しい夏休みです。
    いつか？再開して頂ける事を期待したいもんです。
    あたしゃぁ～⤴花火大会と言えば
    呑めもしないビール呑んで、ぶっ倒れた事を思い出すよぉ！
    あん時の彼女には申し訳なく思います。
    これも花火のようにパッと消える、
    淡い青春時代の思い出だわさぁ⤴

    1. それだって立派な青春の思い出じゃないですか！
      当時は大変な出来事だったにせよ、齢を重ねる度に辛いだの苦しかったことなど見事に色褪せ、まるで篩にかけたかのように輝き放つ良い想い出だけが、砂金の一粒の様にいつまでも輝きを失わないんじゃないでしょうかねぇ。

  2. この夏　大輪の花火をテレビで見た時　ワァ〜凄〜い！じゃなく　静かに感動し切なくもなり　涙が出そうでした。
    コロナ禍でのやりきれなさや苛立ちや　あと非業な死をとげた方々の想いみたいなものを勝手に想像したりして…。
    もちろん　願いを込めて花火を作ってくださった職人さんへの感謝も。
    ぶつける事の出来ない心の中を花火によて癒やされたような気がします。
    下を向くのではなく空を見上げるのなら　次は明るい未来が待ってなきゃ！

      限りない大空を見上げていたら、いつの間にか嫌な事なんて忘れちまえるに決まってます！
      明日は彼岸の入り。
      今夜は夜空を見上げ、プッハアとやりながら、見果てぬ夢でも見ることにします。

  3. 毎年お正月に参拝に行く熱田神宮ですが、今年は色々あって行けてなかったので、先日思い立って参拝に出かけて来ました。普段行くのは、お祭りなどで賑わっている時が多いので、静かな気持ちで一日も早く平穏な日々が戻りますようにと手を合わせて来ました。
