赤い鮎之瀬橋から眺める長良川の川面で、傾きかけた西日がキラキラと揺れる。
まるで春を待ち侘び遡上する鮎の銀鱗のように。
船着場には鵜舟が三艘舫われ、鵜飼開きの訪れに備えているようだ。
向こう岸では投網を打つ漁師たち。
水鳥たちが一斉に鳴き声を発しながら飛び立って行った。
河原に降りて眺める、長良川の流れとこの景色は、小瀬鵜飼が始まったとされる一千有余年の昔から、何一つ変っていないのかも知れない。
そんな錯覚に陥りそうなほど、ここは現の世から切り取られた特別の場所なのかも知れない。
川の流れに耳を澄まし、そっと目を閉じる。
すると辺り一面は漆黒の闇。
遠くからギーコギーコと櫓の軋む音が聞こえ、狩り下る鵜舟の篝火が闇を裂く。
腰蓑姿に風折烏帽子。
鵜匠の鮮やかな手縄さばきが、長良川の川面と夏の夜を焦がして行った。
「お父さん！また餌だけ盗られてまったわ！はよ餌付け直して！」。
母は膝下まで川に浸かったまま延べ竿を引き寄せた。
「またかいな」。
水際でせっせと石をめくり、餌となる川虫を獲りためていた父が、針先へと駆け寄った。
まだぼくが小学生だった頃のこと。
父がせっせと餌を付け替え、母とぼくは白ハエ釣りに夢中になった。
だがそれだけなら何もこの歳になるまで、後生大事に記憶することもなかったろう。
それを忘れがたき記憶に変えたのは、とんでもなく勇ましい母のいでたちだった。
もう色や柄は覚えがない。
確かノースリーブのアッパッパーだった。
母は急にアッパッパーの裾の両端を摘み上げ、太もも周りのパンツのゴムの中に外側から巻き込んだのだ。
水に濡れぬようにと。
股間の部分とお尻の部分だけ、ワンピースの裾が舌のようにダラリと垂れ下がり、両足の外側が腰の辺りまで捲くれ上がっているのだから、もう手の施しようもない。
しかもノースリーブから零れ出した二の腕は大きく弛み、竿を振るたびまるで別の生き物のようにブニョブニョと蠢くではないか。
おまけに頭に麦藁帽子と来ちゃあ、人から「あの人、お母さん？」と尋ねられても、知らぬ存ぜぬを決め込んだことだろう。
「私が25歳で嫁に来た時は、まだ先々代と先代夫婦もそりゃあ元気で、3夫婦で暮らしとったんやで賑やかやったわ」。
関市小瀬の料理旅館「鵜の家」十七代目女将の足立美和さん（65）は、鳥屋の引き戸を開けながら笑った。
真っ暗な鳥屋の中から鵜が鳴き声を上げる。
「今は全部で23羽。みんな大切な鵜匠の片腕たちやでね」。
樹齢五百年とも言われる庭の満天星躑躅が、代々宮内庁式部職を務め上げたこの家の歴史を物語る。
「今年で三回忌になる亡き夫は、ほんといい男やったんやて。だから来世でもまた、夫と一緒になれますようにって、毎日お祈りを欠かしたことないんやって」。
鵜匠の母は照れ臭げに笑った。
現在は三人姉弟の長男が、十八代目鵜匠を拝命。
あと二月もすれば、千年前と同じ幽玄な趣きを秘めた小瀬鵜飼の幕が切って落とされる。

初の鵜飼い観覧
楽しみにしていたけど緊急事態宣言で自粛！残念！
来年こそ必ず鵜飼い観覧行きたいもんです。
ところでオカダさんは鵜飼い観覧行った事ありますか？
まぁ～⤴オカダさんの場合
プッハァ～⤴ばかりして覚えていないんでしょうけどねぇ！
そんなこたぁありません。
そりゃあもちろんプッハァは欠かせませんが、長良川の鵜飼に1回、そして小瀬鵜飼を3回ほど堪能させていただきました。
ぼく的には、小瀬鵜飼の方がお気に入りです。
釣り場での光景を想像して 思わず笑ってしまいました( ◠‿◠ )
でも昔 従姉妹と川で遊んでた時 側で見守ってた母や叔母さんも同じような姿でした。薄くてヒラヒラ〜のノースリーブ姿。
今だと カラフルでちょっとオシャレな姿になるんでしょうね！
文字通り「アッパッパー」ならでは！
涼しさ満点で一度着たら病みつきになっちゃうのかも知れませんねぇ。

緊急事態宣言が解除された１０月１日 金曜日 長良川、小瀬鵜飼が
２日の土曜日には 鵜飼のクライマックスの時間に合わせ、長良川河畔で
サプライズ花火が ２０００発打ち上げられましたよ (｡♡‿♡｡)
花火の音に気付き 慌てて 上に上がり 『 キョロキョロ 』
残念 やっぱり 見れない 〰 〰

楽すぎてどこかに飛んでいきそうなくらい 軽くて着心地が良いです。
家にいる時は、そんなスタイルが一番身体に負担も無く、やさしいホームウエアでしょうね。
ぼくもこの夏は、以前のイベントの衣装として購入した、ステテコに鯉口シャツと腹巻姿で、蚊取り線香を焚いてベランダで夕涼みがてらビールをプッハァとやったりしてました。
なんとも昭和半ばのお父ちゃんと瓜二つのようで、楽しかったものです。
