「天職一芸～あの日のPoem 408」

今日の「天職人」は、名古屋市中区大須の「衣桁いこう職人」。（平成23年2月26日毎日新聞掲載）

黒紋付の父と母　初の仲人大役と　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　父は祝辞を忍ばせて　空で何度も繰り返す　　　　　　　　　　　「時間ですよ」と急かされて　衣桁(いこう)の羽織り取り上げて　　　　　　二礼二拝の神頼み　まるで鳥居か空衣桁

名古屋市中区大須で、明治34（1901）年創業の鈴木木工所。４代目衣桁職人の鈴木規夫さんを訪ねた。

呉服屋のショーウインドーをたまたま目にした折、何とも違和感を覚えた。

その正体が何であるのか、一旦気になると、もうどうにも居ても立ってもいられない。

何とかその正体を見破らんと、今一度呉服屋の入り口を繁々睨め回した。

すると晴れ着姿のマネキンに目が釘付け。

「間違いない、これだ」。

異様な波長の正体は、身動ぎ一つせず、瞬くこと無く商店街の通りを見詰めたままだ。

「そりゃあやっぱり呉服は、衣桁に掛けるのが一番収まりがいいですわ」。規夫さん）は、「まあ、お掛けになって」と、座面に帆布を張った胡(こ)床(しょう)を広げた。

胡床とは、テレビドラマの戦国武将が、陣幕の中で腰を下ろす、一人掛け用の折り畳み式の椅子である。

規夫さんは昭和40（1965）年に、３人兄弟の長男として誕生。

「家がそのまんま作業場でしたから、子どもの頃からよく手伝ってました」。

大学院で建築設計を学び、設計事務所に勤務し一級建築士の資格を取得。

「学生の頃に清洲城や、セビリア万博に出品した安土城の設計を担当して。事務所に入ってからは、西尾城や寺社仏閣を手掛けました」。

それも縁(えにし)か平成6年、西尾市出身の恵美子さんと結ばれ、一男一女を授かった。

その後30歳で独立し、寺社仏閣専門の設計事務所を開設。

「家業を手伝いながら自分の設計もしてと、二束の草鞋状態でした」。

平成15年、病の父を庇い、家業を継いだ。

「父が寝たきりになったから。父が永年勘だけで作って来た衣桁や反物掛け、胡床、几帳台などの木工品を、自分の手で一から合理的に設計しなおしたんです。私一人でも加工し易いように」。

衣桁とは、細木を神社の鳥居のように組んだ、高さ約1.7メートル、幅約1.8メートルほどの自立式木枠の着物掛け。

衣桁作りは、まず天棒となる洋材のラミンの丸棒に、臍穴を開ける作業から。そして両端に切込みを入れ、反り上がり部分の材を貼り付け磨き上げる。

次に縦棒の上下に臍を削り出し、中央の横棒用に臍穴を開ける。

そして下段の角材の面を取り、脚と共に縦棒用の臍穴を開け、漆仕立てに塗装すれば完成。

「組み立て式にしてありますから、使用時に組み立て、必要がなければ取り外して片付けることもできます」。

主に呉服屋、結婚式場、博物館、それに世界各国にある日本大使館などからも注文がある。

「和風旅館などでは、衣桁に呉服を掛けて、間仕切りとして利用されるようです」。

さらに施主の要望によっては、本漆仕立てや、天棒の両端に錺金具をあしらったり、蒔絵を施すものもある。

掛けると掛けられる関係は、一つになることで実用性を越え、室内を雅に彩る装飾品に生まれ変わる。

  2. 衣桁と言うんですね。物は見た事があっても、名前は知らない物って沢山あるわぁ。母は、和服用のハンガーが無かったので、50センチ物差しに紐を結んで衣紋掛け代わりにしてました。

    1. 家のお母ちゃんも、なごやンさんのお母様のように、我が家に無いものはないなりに勘考して、それなりに代用する手立てを考えていたものです。

  3. 『衣桁』これもまた　昔の方が考えられた逸品。
    何度か見た事はあるけど　やはり目が行くのは　煌びやかな着物。もしかしたら　物凄い作品の上に着物が掛けられてたのかも。
    裏方の…いや　縁の下の… なくてはならない物ばかりを　ブログで知る。
    今後　『衣桁』もそうだけど　やっぱり見方が変わるのは　とっても面白い( ◠‿◠ )

    1. 衣桁は着物を掛けるだけではなく、そのまま間仕切りのパーテーションの役割にも利用されていたそうですから、お座敷文化の和室には持って来いだったようですものねぇ。

  4. 京都を訪れた時　小上がりがある和菓子屋さんに　衣桁は洋服掛け　胡床は荷物置きにされていました　(灬º‿º灬)♡　　

    ちょっと贅沢　でもそれが、京都らしい
    　又行きたくなるんです❣️

    私が振り袖を作って貰った時は　左右に1メートルくらい伸びる　プラスチック製のハンガーを呉服屋さんから頂きました　　

    成人式の時は　着付けて貰う美容院にも　着物と　その衣桁のようになるハンガーも　一緒に持って行き　髪をセットして貰っている時は鏡越しに　着せてもらえる振り袖を見ながら　ワクワクしていた日が懐かし〜い　(✿^‿^)

    そのハンガー　まだ持っていますよ❣️
