「天職一芸～あの日のPoem 411」

今日の「天職人」は、愛知県刈谷市の「錺かざり職」。（平成23年3月19日毎日新聞掲載）

父は七つのお祝いに　夜毎コツコツ銅を打つ　　　　　　　　　　　晴れ着の柄にお似合いの　君影草(きみかげそう/スズラン)の髪錺(かざり)　　宮へ詣でるその朝に　髪を結い上げ後差し　　　　　　　　　　　「羨ましい」と妹も　三面鏡を覗き込む

愛知県刈谷市で昭和33（1958）年創業の、村井神仏金物製作所。二代目錺職の村井義幸さんを訪ねた。

南に開いた明り取りの窓辺には、2500本にも及ぶ鏨(たがね)が並び、己が出番を待ち受ける。

「父から譲り受けた物が大半ですが、実際に使うのは1000本程度かなあ？錺職は自分で鍛冶屋仕事の焼入れして、鏨を作るための鏨まで作るんです」。義幸さんは、金鎚を打つ手を止めて振り向いた。

義幸さんは昭和40年、３人兄弟の長男として誕生。

高校を出ると滋賀県彦根市の錺職人の元で修業を始めた。

「子どもの頃から物を作るのが好きで。1枚の銅板から鏨1本で、自在に立体的な錺金具まで作り出せるんですから。それに会社員と違って、１円単位の競争に追われることもないし」。

５年の修業を経て家業へ。

修業先で得たのは、技だけではなかった。

同じ職場の金箔職人であった、裕子さんとの間に恋が芽生え、手を取り三河の郷へ。

平成元年に結ばれ、一男一女を授かった。

「気が付いたら、妻が付いて来ちゃったんです」。

それから10年。

錺り職父子は、ひがな一日窓辺に座し、互いに何かを語らうでも無く、ただひたすら黙々と鏨を叩き続けた。

「平成10年から父の仕事を受け継ぎまして。それからは大好きなハードロックを聴きながら、金床をスネア代わりに、鏨と金鎚をスティックに見立て、リズムを刻んでみたり」。

三河仏壇、祭りの山車、神社仏閣の煌びやかな錺金具は種々多様。

まずは銅板に、型の墨付けを行う金取りから。そして鏨で断ち切り、縁(へり)打ちを行い、下絵を描き柄(がら)彫(ぼ)りへ。

「下絵をなぞり、小さな楔形を刻む蹴(け)り彫り鏨や、魚の卵のように細かな目が犇めき合う魚々子(ななこ)鏨。それにもっと細かい砂のような砂目鏨や石目や岩目の鏨を使い分けながら、柄を彫り出すんです」。

そして粗研ぎし、鑢目(やすりめ)のザラザラした突起を刮(きさ)げと棒(ぼう)箆(べら)で磨き上げ、金メッキを施す。

「鏨で彫った肌の荒れ具合で、錺の顔が違って来ますから。下絵によってその都度、鏨を選ばんといかんのです」。

ちなみに三河仏壇1本に、錺り職が1つ1つ手で打ち出す、約1500枚の金具が用いられる。

それは正面から仏壇を眺めただけでは気付かない、天井金具一つとっても、どれ一つとして手抜きなど許されない。

「そもそも仏壇は、家の中にある、寺院のミニチュアと一緒ですから、大きさこそ違えども、おおよそ寺院の本堂と同じように、錺り金具が配され、組立師の手によって取り付けられます」。

その意匠たるや、幾何学模様から花鳥風月まで多種多様。

日本人の美意識が、伝統的な意匠に込められ現世へと受け継がれる。

３代目はと問うと「ぼくで最後かな。時間ばっかりかかる大変な仕事だし…」と、一瞬苦しげな言葉を飲み込んだ。

わずか10センチの金床を舞台に、錺職の指先は、鏨を操り銅板上を踊り続ける。

  1. これもまた細かなお仕事…
    どんな想いで錺り金具を造っていらっしゃるんだろう。
    ふっとそんな事を思ってしまった。
    ハードロックを聴きながら…で思い出したんですけど　胆嚢摘出手術をする為　手術室に入った時　ロック調の曲が　ガンガンにかかってました(笑)
    女医さんの好みの曲らしく…。
    でも　この曲のお陰で気持ちが吹っ切れたのを覚えてます( ◠‿◠ )

    これが全部手作業で出来ているのですね。あらためて　目を見張りました。それとすずらんって君影草と書くのですね。

  3. 子供の頃、「家にある一番高価なものはこの大きな仏壇だよ」と母は良く言ってました。子供心に半信半疑だったけど、1500枚もの金具が手作りだなんて、母の言葉に納得!!
